Define the garment and carrying scenario
State whether the bag protects a short jacket, a full suit or a longer garment. Provide shoulder width and the required hanging length with the actual hanger. Distinguish wardrobe storage from hand carrying or packed distribution. These uses affect material, closure and handle requirements.
Measure the finished usable space
Ask for finished width and length, any gusset and the position of the hanger opening. Load the complete suit and check that shoulders and hems sit comfortably. A flat measurement alone cannot confirm fit around a bulky hanger or layered garment. Retain a dimensioned drawing with agreed measurement points.
Specify material by identification and performance need
For non-woven or woven materials, request composition, nominal weight and a physical swatch. Discuss the expected storage conditions and handling rather than assuming a fabric is waterproof or breathable. Any specific performance claim should have an agreed evaluation method and evidence relevant to the finished construction.
Inspect zipper access and surrounding seams
Open the zipper fully with the garment loaded. Check slider travel, end stops and whether the lining or garment catches near the opening. Confirm the zipper length, colour and pull style. Inspect reinforcement at stress points and agree a practical repeated-opening trial before production approval.
Check hanger openings and carrying details
Test the hanger hook opening with the intended hanger. If the bag has handles or a folding loop, carry the loaded sample in its intended configuration. Confirm that the fold does not pull excessively on the zipper or shoulder seam. A storage cover should not automatically be treated as a travel carrier.
Approve logo placement in both hanging and folded views
Define the logo position from finished edges and check it when the garment bag is hanging and folded. Ask for a decoration proof on the specified material. Keep important lettering clear of zippers, folds and handles. Record artwork revision and approved print size in the purchase order.

Make packing part of delivery approval
Ask how bags are folded and counted into cartons. Inspect an unpacked sample after it has been stored in the proposed packing format. Confirm whether creases affect the logo or customer presentation. Request production and transport timing separately, and leave an approval window for the loaded sample before committing to a launch.
